What if everything you've tried for your sleep was never designed to fix it?

You’ve tried the melatonin, the magnesium, the sleep apps, and the advice to ‘just reduce stress.’ You’re still exhausted. This program teaches you exactly what drives chronic insomnia and gives you the evidence-based tools to fix it, built by a triple board-certified sleep physician who has spent her career finding what other doctors miss.

Why your sleep system got stuck in mid-life and how to unstick it

Most insomnia treatments fail because they treat symptoms, not the mechanism. You’ll learn the three biological systems that govern your sleep, why chronic insomnia is a learned response your brain can unlearn, and why everything you’ve tried hasn’t worked yet.

Tools you use during the course not after

Each week includes the actual treatment tools: a physician designed sleep diary, behavioral protocols, and structured worksheets. These are not supplementary reading. They are the intervention. You apply them the same week you learn them.

A plan built around your biology, not a generic schedule

The Sleep Recovery Method™ is grounded in CBT-I, the gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia with stronger evidence than any sleep medication. Every module is sequenced deliberately so that by the end, you understand your own sleep system well enough to maintain and troubleshoot it long-term.

About the Course

Chronic insomnia is not a character flaw or an inevitable consequence of a busy life. It is a biological pattern your brain has learned, and it can be unlearned. The Sleep Recovery Method™ is the structured, physician-guided program that teaches you how. This course is built on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold-standard treatment backed by more clinical evidence than any sleep medication. It also integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the clinical sleep medicine framework Dr. Brown uses with her own patients. You won’t find this combination in wellness apps or generic sleep courses. Over six weeks, you will: > Understand exactly why your insomnia has persisted and what is keeping the cycle going > Implement sleep restriction and stimulus control the core behavioral interventions of CBT-I with step by step guidance > Learn what your sleep tracker is and isn’t telling you, and how to stop it from making your anxiety worse > Understand the role of midlife hormonal changes on sleep architecture and what that means for your treatment > Get an honest, evidence based review of supplements and sleep medications > Build the cognitive tools to stop the 3am spiral and prevent relapse long term

This course is for you if:

You've been struggling with sleep for months or years and nothing has lasted.

You have tried everything the internet told you to try. The supplements. The routines. The apps. Maybe even medication. And you are still not sleeping. This program was built for exactly where you are; exhausted, frustrated, and ready for something that actually works.

You've been told your labs are normal and sent home with no real answers.

You know something is wrong but nobody has been able to tell you what. This program goes beyond the basics and addresses the full picture; behavior, thought patterns, hormones, physiology, and nervous system arousal because chronic insomnia rarely has just one driver.

You're done following sleep rules you don't understand.

You don't want another checklist. You want to understand your sleep system, how it works, why it broke down, and exactly what to do to rebuild it. That is what this program teaches.

This course may not be right for you if:

You're looking for a passive listening experience.

This is not a podcast or a webinar. It is a structured clinical program that requires your active participation. The sleep diary and worksheets are not optional. They are core to the treatment and where the real work happens.

You're looking for a shortcut.

There is no hack for retraining your sleep system. This program is evidence-based, which means it is effective but it also means it requires consistency and commitment. If you are ready to do the work, the results follow.

You need a higher level of clinical support.

If you complete the program and find that something deeper is driving your sleep problems, you do not have to figure it out alone. Dr. Brown's practice, The Restful Sleep Place, is available for a full clinical evaluation to get to the root of what's going on and build a plan specifically for you.

Meet Your Instructor

Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown, MD, FAASM is one of a small number of physicians in the country who is board-certified in sleep medicine which gives her a rare, whole-system view of how the body sleeps and why it stops. She trained at Penn Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (FAASM). She is the bestselling author of Beyond Tired and the founder of The Restful Sleep Place, a holistic sleep medicine practice in Horsham, Pennsylvania. She built this course because she kept seeing the same pattern in her practice: women who had been dismissed by the standard system, handed melatonin, told their labs were normal, and sent home still exhausted. She knows exactly where the gaps are, and this program fills them.

After working my way through the Sleep in Teens Course, I have a better and more in depth understanding of things such as technology use and the lack of sleep pressure that affects my sleep and overall health. There was a lot of information about bad sleep habits and useful tips for better sleep that I had no knowledge about prior to taking the course. I will definitely be implementing the information I've learned and the Restful Sleep diary into my daily routine!

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from free CBT-I resources I can find online? Free CBT-I resources give you the techniques without the clinical context to apply them correctly. The most common reason CBT-I fails on your own is misapplication, especially sleep restriction, which requires precise calibration. This course gives you the method, the clinical reasoning behind each step, and the tools to personalize it to your specific sleep pattern. It was built by a sleep physician who works with this population daily, not a wellness coach who read the research. I’m in perimenopause. Does this apply to me? YES! There is an entire module dedicated to midlife hormonal shifts and sleep, specifically the role of estrogen and progesterone in sleep architecture, what changes after perimenopause, and how to interpret your sleep symptoms in that context. This is content you will not find in generic insomnia programs. What if I also have anxiety? Or I think I might have sleep apnea? The course addresses the anxiety-insomnia relationship directly, including how to tell which came first and what that means for treatment. There is also a dedicated module on when symptoms suggest an underlying sleep disorder that warrants medical evaluation, including sleep apnea. If that applies to you, the course will tell you, and point you toward the right next step. I’m currently taking a sleep medication. Can I still do this? Yes. The course includes a frank discussion of sleep medications, what they do, what they don’t, and how CBT-I can be used alongside or in place of them. The goal is not to take anything away from you. It is to give you something that works on its own. How much time does this take per week? Plan for 60–90 minutes of video and reading per week, plus approximately 10 minutes each morning to complete your sleep diary. The sleep diary is not optional, it is how you measure whether the protocol is working and how you adjust it. What if I finish the course and I’m still struggling? The course is designed to produce results when followed as structured. If you complete the program and find that something isn’t resolving, that is clinically meaningful information, it points toward a deeper evaluation. A Sleep Clarity Consultation at The Restful Sleep Place is available as a next step for anyone who needs more than behavioral treatment can offer.

The sleep you’ve been trying to get back is still possible.

You’ve spent months or years trying to solve this alone. Six structured weeks with a physician designed system is a small investment against years of exhaustion. Here is exactly what is included: > 6-week physician guided video curriculum (18 lessons) > Weekly structured worksheets > The Restful Sleep Diary (physician designed tracking tool) > Hormones & midlife sleep module > Medications & supplements: the honest review > Lifetime access to all content and updates
